New medicine in trials may prevent HCM

Human clinical trials are underway for new medicine that may have the ability to prevent and reverse the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. MyoKardia, Inc. developed the drug and conducted a study which found that the medicine worked to prevent development of HCM in mice. Unlike other drugs taken by patients with HCM, this new development focuses on prevention rather than treating the symptoms.
